On July 13th, 2023, students from the Aichi Prefectural School for the Visually Impaired (愛知県立名古屋盲学校) embarked on a visit to Ichimura High School, creating a delightful educational exchange with the students of the Explorer Course. This event showcased the power of community-building and active learning in just one great day.
Starting with lunch together in the cafeteria and ending with an engaging set of communication games led by Mr. Adam Kraus (Explorer Course 2nd year Homeroom Teacher), the visit aimed to break down barriers and foster inclusivity. Students from both schools eagerly embraced the opportunity to connect and learn from one another. Despite everyone’s differences, no one was shy at all.
“I was very impressed with the English pronunciation of the Mogakko students,” said Mr. Christopher Yap (Explorer Course 1st year Homeroom Teacher). He went on to add, “I was also quite happy to see that our Explorer course students naturally came out of their comfort zones to make the visiting students feel at home.”
“It was a great learning experience for everyone involved,” said Mr. Kraus, at the conclusion of the event. “We are really looking forward to visiting their school in the 2nd semester.”
